Organization of the Islamic Cooperation and the International Organizations

The OIC maintains close cooperation with many international organizations. Its Summit and Ministerial Conferences regularly adopt a resolution on: "Cooperation between the Organization of the Islamic Conference and international and regional organizations." The OIC also has two resolutions on its cooperation with the United Nations and the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Every year the United Nations General Assembly adopts a resolution* on "Cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation", and requests the U.N. Secretary General to submit a report** on this question.

The General Secretariat, the affiliated and specialized institutions as well as the subsidiary bodies of the OIC have either Cooperation Agreement or Memorandum/Protocol of Agreement/Understanding with the following international organizations:

 International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

 UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

 UN Development Programme (UNDP)

 UN Department of Technical Co-operation for Development (UNDTCD)

 UN Environment Programme (UNEP)

 UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

 Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)

 UN Population Fund (UNFPA)

 UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

 UN Children's Fund (UNICEF)

 UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

 The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)

 World Health Organization (WHO)

 World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

 International Organization for Migration (IOM)

 International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
